Archive Description

The Soviet 8086. This is a functional clone of the Intel 8086, manufactured behind the Iron Curtain. It powered the ES PEVM, the Soviet equivalent of the IBM PC.

It is a fascinating artifact of the Cold War tech race. While the West had the 8086, the Soviets reverse-engineered it to ensure they weren't left behind. It runs the same code, but it speaks Russian.
