Frequently Asked Questions

Why does this site exist?
This site exists purely as passion project. This is what happens when you have an exact mix of hobbies being software engineering, vintage cpu collecting, and photography. Oh, and cats. I love cats! CATCATCATCATCATCATCATCATCAT
Who exactly is the 'Curator'?
Just a normal dude like any other, based in Singapore, nothing more! I'm not exactly private but I'd rather not blast my personal information online.
Whats your phototaking setup?
Nothing fancy. A relatively budget M43 setup (Olympus pen E-P7) paired with a Panasonic Leica DG Macro-Elmarit 45mm f/2.8. Lighting is simply a product lightbox of a random Chinese brand you can get for pretty cheap. I shoot them at around f/6.3 on macro mode, and try to maintain a baseline consistency of angles. I'm also very amateur at this as you can tell from the bad alignments but cant find time yet to tilt/fix them in post processing. Anyway if you're keen to start, dont let gear stop you! Modern phones have come along far enough to be a pretty solid start, and natural light does wonders.
Some of the information are wrong!
It would be very much appreciated if you could go to the pages and click on 'Spot an anomaly?' button. It brings up the contact form - I'll do my best to rectify them. As the sole person maintaining the entire archive, it can be very difficult to find time amongst photographing, research and uploading, especially when many of these are truly rare and basically impossible to find much documentation on, so i do apologize sincerely for any misinformation.
Do you accept donations?
No, but I appreciate the thought. I'm doing perfectly fine. I do accept CPU donations for non-duplicated pieces - they will be properly documented in this archive and kept preserved in a dry cabinet, you can even request them back or just borrow it to me to have them archived!
How does this website make money?
Simple, I don't! This is but a hobby project. I absolutely detest ads and would never put them on here as long as I can afford to upkeep the hosting from my own pocket.
Are you selling any of these artifacts?
Unfortunately, no. They'll probably be donated to a museum or to non-profit collectors when I grow old and run out of space.
How do you store your artifacts?
In a relatively affordable dry cabinet set to 40% rH. Its very humid in singapore averaging 60-80+ rH on an average day throughout the year so I dont have much of a choice if I want to avoid oxidation and tarnishing.
